Next Monday,
World leaders will gather in New York City at the United Nations for the Millennium Development Goals Summit. The Millennium Development Goals were set in 2000 with the aim of halving extreme poverty, halting the spread of HIV/AIDS, and making progress on other health and education efforts by 2015. Despite multiple commitments from governments for universal access to AIDS treatment by 2010, 70% of people around the world still lack access to life-saving AIDS drugs. In order to reach the Millenium Development Goals, this must change quickly.
On Monday, September 20 join activists on the streets, demanding that the US government use this opportunity to pledge their commitment to ending AIDS, once and for all. Meet at 42nd St and Lexington Ave at 10:00am on Monday, September 20th to rally with thousands of empty pill bottles representing the lack of access to AIDS drugs.
