Take Action in Support of the New York Health Act
New York State has a bill called the NEW YORK HEALTH ACT ready to be brought to a vote that would enact Healthcare for All for all New Yorkers. And it has the votes to pass! Kathy Hochul can call a special session to make this happen. Passing this bill would make the federal cuts to ACA subsidies and Medicaid irrelevant. It would also override Trump’s executive order and enshrine gender-affirming care in our state. The Act includes coverage for a broad range of services, including primary care, mental health, dental, vision, hearing, long-term care, in addition to gender-affirming care.
What can you do?
-
Call Governor Hochul (518-474-8390) and demand that she call a special legislative session ASAP
- Email Governor Hochul:
-
Call Speaker Heastie (718-654-6539) and Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins (212-298-5585) and demand that they bring the bill to their respective floors for a vote
-
Demand your State Senators and Assembly member to support this bill and talk about it with their colleagues and constituents

When HEALTHCARE is under attack…
The Trump administration is eliminating the funding for marketplace healthcare plans, making health insurance unaffordable for 1.7 million New Yorkers in January 2026. An additional 1.3 million NYers are on the Essential Plan, which has relied on $7.5 billion of federal funding per year that Trump has slashed. To make matters worse, NYS has already opted to roll back the income limits enacted in 2024 to a lower cutoff beginning in 2026, which will affect 450,000 New Yorkers.
When MEDICAID is under attack…
Earlier this year, Congress passed over $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid that will be rolled out over the next 10 years. Medicaid is the primary insurer for people with HIV/AIDS in the U.S — 40% of these folks rely on it, above any other type of insurance. LGBTQ+ adults are 2x more likely than the hetero community to use Medicaid as their main insurance.
When GENDER-AFFIRMING CARE is under attack…
Earlier this year Trump released an executive order limiting transgender healthcare for youth. Even though it’s not law, many healthcare providers have changed their policies to comply anyway. More recently, he removed gender-affirming care from the health care services covered under the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program beginning in 2026, which would impact all federal workers, their spouses, children, and dependents.
What do we do?
ACT UP! FIGHT BACK!
We can’t sit idly by while healthcare becomes a luxury for the wealthy. If the US government won’t work for us, NY State government must.
