6pm Mon., Feb 27, ACT UP 25th Anniversary Follow-up Planning Meeting

Please join ACT UP for a follow-up meeting scheduled for Monday February 27th at 6pm at the LGBT Center. Various 25th Annivsary action proposals were suggested ranging from a demonstration on Wall Street demanding a Financial Transaction Tax, to a demonstration on Single-Payer Healthcare, to a demonstration at the site of old St. Vincents Hospital and proposed site of an AIDS memorial. (For those new to ACT UP, many years we’ve done actions on, or near the anniversary of our founding to commemorate it and continue the fight against AIDS.)We’ll discuss some of the ideas proposed last week as well as new proposals. For those of you on Facebook, there is a lively back and forth on ACT UP Alumni’s page. Tony Autoharp’s multi-part proposal has received a lot of attention.

More than 50 people came to last week’s meeting, and a large positive response to this proposed follow up meeting. Please come and bring your proposals.

The meeting will begin with a 20 minute Teach-in on the Financial Transaction Tax.
