7PM Mon. March 5th ACT UP Meeting to Plan Anniversary Action

Dear Friends,

Please join us at ACT UP/NY’s general meeting on Monday, March 5th at 7pm at the LGBT Center to plan for a 25th anniversary action. Attendance at the last few meetings has grown and committees have formed. One of our central demands is for a financial speculation tax on Wall Street trades.The date chosen for the demonstration is Wed., APRIL 25. Time TBA.

Such a tax probably would generate billions for AIDS, green energy conversion, healthcare and jobs and stablize the stock market from intense speculation. The demo will focus on the AIDS funding aspect.We have formed the following 6 committees. The Outreach committee and Messaging committees have both met already:

4. Messaging :Coordinator: Sister Poly
5. Legal :Coordinator: (need help here, volunteers please)
6. International AIDS Conference

Three committees announce meetings in advance of the general meeting:

• The Logistics committee will have a pre-meeting on Mon., March 5th at  6:00 PM in the same room as the 7pm general meeting (Kaplan 101, the large room on the first floor).
• The Media committee will  have a pre-meeting on Mon., March 5th at 6:30, in a different corner of the room.
• Outreach committee will also have a pre-meeting at 6:30 on Mon., March 5th , in the same room, but in a different corner.

Please bring your ideas, energy and join a committee. Some refreshments will be provided.
